Preston Campbell, PhD is a managing partner at Venebio Group, LLC. a life-sciences consulting firm that specializes in matters related to psychoactive substances with significant abuse potential. He received his first small grant over 20 years ago for meningitis research and then moved on to vaccine development and oncology. He discovered a mechanistic link between psychological stress, breast cancer metastasis, and patient survival that could be targeted with beta blockers. Afterward Dr. Campbell led pre-clinical drug development efforts centered around rainforest plant compounds and then as a systems pharmacologist applying data science to lung cancer treatment paradigms. After departing academia, he was a founder and Chief Scientific Officer at @MONQ where he led a psychopharmacology program using combinations of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other plant medicine compounds, primarily focused on smoking cessation. He later founded a formulation lab @ENSO Laboratories specializing in formulation with botanical extracts. Dr. Campbell currently leads pharmacology and toxicology efforts at Venebio related to end-to-end drug development, FDA regulatory strategy, and product life cycle strategy efforts. He has also co-founded a successful cannabis beverage company @drinkbrez . Preston received his PhD in Pharmacology from Vanderbilt University and business and management training at the Vanderbilt Owen School. He has extensive experience with neuroscience, addiction, clinical pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, drug development and repurposing, and computational modeling. Dr. Campbell has more than 20 publications across a wide range of scientific disciplines and holds several patents.
