Alex Kelly is the National Laboratory Director at Trulieve, managing the company’s nationwide third-party testing laboratory relationships. She began her Trulieve journey in January 2019, working in the internal analytical laboratory to drive operational decisions and uphold product quality. That same year, Alex implemented the cannabis testing laboratory audit program for third-party partners, setting high standards for accuracy and compliance.In 2020, Alex spearheaded the launch of in-house stability testing, helping Trulieve improve packaging decisions and set accurate product expiry dates. In 2022, she submitted the first ASTM method guide for quick turnaround potency analysis using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR), an innovation deployed by Trulieve in 2023 for in-house flower potency testing.Prior to Trulieve, Alex worked at General Dynamics, specializing in quality assurance testing for gunpowder, and at Perrigo in the UK, where she analyzed the purity of pharmaceutical drugs. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics. Fluent in English and Spanish, Alex is dedicated to advancing cannabis science and mentoring the next generation of industry professionals.Outside of work, Alex loves exploring the outdoors through camping and hiking with her husband and their two border collies.
