David S. Kerr is a partner and co-founder of Berg Hill Greenleaf Ruscitti’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. His practice focuses on patent and trademark prosecution, intellectual property licensing, and infringement litigation.

Located in Colorado, David was an early pioneer in the Cannabis industry and represents emerging and established technology companies focusing on novel Cannabis-related applications, including the synthesis of novel cannabinoid compounds, in vitro and in vivo production or traditional and minor cannabinoids, plant genetics, as well as solubilization and processing technologies. David also represents several sizeable Cannabis-focused investment groups with over a billion dollars under management. David’s work in this area has allowed him to review and evaluate intellectual property portfolios from a multitude of companies across the industry, giving him critical insights into the marketplace.

David received his dual JD/MBA from the University of Denver. Prior to that, he received a graduate degree in Molecular Genetics & Cellular Biology from Washington State University, where he conducted research on the role of histone protein modifications on global gene expression. He received his B.S. degree in Microbiology from Brigham Young University, where he was the recipient of a research grant to investigate two-component regulatory systems in E. coli.
